(Oneida, NY – March 2012) Allen G. “Tommy” Cronk, 75, of 525 Sayles Street, Oneida, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility.

He was born on April 9, 1936, in Canastota, the son of Oren and Katherine Greiner Fellows.

Tommy spent his early years in Canastota, and had fond memories of his childhood home at 107 Terrace, from which he attended the Canastota schools.  He has lived in Oneida since 1958.

He worked as a Supervisor at Diemolding Corporation in Canastota for 23 years.  Tommy later became a bus driver for the Canastota Central Schools for 18 years, and also worked as a bartender at the Order of Owls Nest #1606 in Oneida.

Tommy was a member of the former Loyal Order of Moose #421 in Oneida, and the Order of Owls Nest #1606 in Oneida.

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1956 to 1958.

Tommy enjoyed bowling, playing golf, sweets from Dunn’s Bakery in Canastota, mowing his lawn, his German Shepherds and cats, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He married Sally Shortell of Oneida on August 11, 1956, and they had five children together.

Surviving besides his former wife, Sally, are:  three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary Cronk, Steven and Karyn Cronk, and David and Mary Cronk, all of Oneida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Edward Sanborn of Munnsville, and Christine and Peter Palamara of Canastota; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth “Pogi” and John Friedmann of Sarasota, FL; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota.  The Rev. James R. Harriff, of the First Baptist Church of Canastota, officiated. The family greeted friends on Saturday prior to the service, at the funeral home, 201 James Street, Canastota.
