To the Editor:
(Chittenango, NY – April 2012) Spring is here; this means Betterment Day is just around the corner. Once again, we are looking for our community organizations as well as individual volunteers to offer their assistance to help us get Chittenango spruced up.
It is, after all, Chittenango’s bicentennial this year, and we want our village to look its best!
Chittenango’s 34th annual Betterment Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 28. Betterment Day is our community’s spring cleaning day; each group or organization’s team leader/contact person will check in at the Chittenango Fire Station at 9 a.m. that day to pick up garbage bags and any tools or equipment necessary for his or her team.
Any individual(s) wishing to participate in this community event should also come to the Chittenango Fire House in the Village to check in at 9 a.m. We should all be done by noon, at which time all volunteers are invited back to the Firehouse to enjoy a hot dog and a soda.
If you have not scheduled your group or would like to just help spruce up your community, call Village Parks Committee Member/Betterment Day Co-Chairperson Mary Alice Clapp at (315) 687-6603 (call in the evening) to sign up and receive your team’s designated clean up area and any instructions.
On behalf of our beautiful village, thank you for your continued support.
Mickey Kopp, Village Parks Commissioner; MaryAlice Clapp, Co-Chair Betterment Day Committee; Colleen Baldwin, Co-chair Betterment Day Committee; Marjorie Walters and Nelson Smith, Village Parks Committee
