Chuck Fougnier, Oneida Nation Council Wolf Clan member, presents a $5,000 check to Oz-Stravaganza Co-Director Colleen Zimmer.

(Oneida, Chittenango, NY) Wolf Clan member of the Oneida Nation Council, Chuck Fougnier, handed a $5,000 check to Oz-Stravaganza Co-Director Colleen Zimmer as Presenting Sponsor of the 34th annual festival.  Oz-Stravaganza pays tribute to Chittenango native and “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” author L. Frank Baum.

“It means everything to us,” said Zimmer. “We have a lot of free events for families and those things have to be paid for.  The Nation’s involvement and commitment lets us know that we’ll be able to put on this family event.”

“It’s our pleasure,” Fougnier said. “We’re neighbors and we want to support the event.  I look forward to it every year.  It’s just a good time.”

Part of the Oneida Nation’s Presenting Sponsorship of Oz-Stravaganza includes a visit from Margaret Pellegrini, an original Munchkin from the 1939 “Wizard of Oz” film.

Other special Oz-Stravaganza guests include “Wicked” author Gregory Maguire, Andre DeShields, who played The Wizard in the 1975 Broadway musical “The Wiz,” and singer-songwriter Grayson Hugh.

This year’s Oz-Stravaganza festival runs June 1 to 3 in the village of Chittenango, with the signature parade Saturday June 2 at 2 p.m.  Learn more at
