Sullivan Free Library News

By Karen Traynor

(Chittenango, NY – April 2012) I am having a Hunger Games Book/Movie Discussion group for ages 12 to 16 Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. We will compare the book and the movie and enjoy refreshments based on what Katniss, Peeta and Gale ate in District 12, in the train and in the Capital. There are a few books available at the main circulation desk to check out.

For more information, call Marie Deegan at (315) 687-6331 or email chittenango@midyork.org.

The Sullivan Free Library at 101 Falls Blvd., Chittenango, will be participating in the first World Book Night in the United States on Monday, April 23, by giving away copies of “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” by Rebecca Skloot.

World Book Night was launched in the UK in 2011 and will be celebrated this year in the UK, Ireland and the United States. It is an annual celebration designed to spread the love of reading and books. Each giving location could choose among thirty titles to share with their local communities.

The Sullivan Free Library has soft cover special editions of the book to give out. Readers can reserve a copy by emailing ktraynor@midyork.org. The first 30 people to respond can pick up their book between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. April 23.

It is not necessary to be a patron of the Sullivan Free Library in order to reserve a copy. World Book Night is designed to encourage reading among light or non-readers.

For more information about World Book Night, visit worldbooknight.org or call Karen Fauls-Traynor at (315) 697-6331 ext. 302.
