Ancestry Search Help Available at Caz Library

Cazenovia Public Library news

(Cazenovia, NY – May 2012) Anyone interested in using Ancestry.com to begin their family history search are encouraged to take part in the library’s labs.

Library staff member, Elisha Davies, will lead six small group sessions aimed to help participants begin their family search. Two 90-minute sessions will be offered the mornings of May 30 and June 1 at 10 a.m. and noon. Two evening sessions will be held May 31 at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room.

Laptops are required and will be provided, if needed, therefore space is limited for each session. To reserve your preferred time and day, call the library at (315) 655-9322 or stop by the circulation desk.

Interest in genealogy has risen within the past years, due to the advent of online search sites such as Ancestry.com. This lab will help users become familiar with navigating Ancestry.com and its tools and provide time for participants to start their online family tree.

Both Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest are made available to the public by the Friends. Researchers may now visit the library and access these sites through the library’s wireless (from links from the library’s website) or via the genealogy computer located in the Reference Room.

These labs are free to the public, but pre-registration is required. For more information, call (315) 655-9322.
