(Oneida, NY) Wolf Clan member of the Oneida Nation Council Chuck Fougnier and SavOn Stores Operations Director Sean Brown presented a $20,318 check to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  The money was raised through the sale of shamrocks at Oneida Nation SavOn Stores for MDA’s Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign.  Since 2005, SavOn Stores have helped raise more than $150,000 for MDA.

Fougnier said, “The Oneida Nation is proud to continue this strong association with the MDA, to help those in our communities who are battling neuromuscular diseases and to work towards a cure,” Fougnier said.

“We had a goal of $18,000 and we exceeded that by $2,300, which is fantastic,” Brown said.  “It’s a great reflection of the generosity of SavOn customers.  We’re proud to be in partnership with the MDA.”

MDA of Syracuse Executive Director Kristin Rogers said, “We are so thankful that SavOn helps us raise funds and spread awareness.  All of the money raised stays in our local communities to help serve the people of Central New York who are affected by muscular dystrophy.”

During the campaign, SavOn Stores offered green shamrocks for a $1 donation, and gold shamrocks for a $5 donation.  Customers signed the shamrocks, which were then displayed on SavOn Store windows, walls and ceilings.  The MDA Shamrocks campaign raises funds to support MDA’s research programs and services, and helps send children with muscle diseases to a week of accessible fun at MDA summer camp.
