(Chittenango, NY – June 2012) Each month, the YMCA of Syracuse sponsors a community walk to encourage physical fitness somewhere in Central New York. On June 16 and 17, the walk will be in Chittenango, starting at the Community Room of the Sullivan Free Library. Since this is Chittenango’s bicentennial, Charles Albee will give a short talk on the village’s history Saturday morning. Walkers will be on the streets from 8 a.m. to about 1 p.m. Saturday and from about 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Three-mile and six-mile routes will be available.

The three-mile walk will travel from the library along the Chittenango Creek Walk, up Russell Street, Lake Street, Boyd Avenue, Sullivan Park pond and back to the library by way of Russell and Genesee streets.

The six-mile walk will follow the three mile walk and include more of Lake Street, Bolivar Road, Horizon Drive, Nayik, Bialek, Gloria, Burning Hills, Hearthstone, Hawthorne, Kirschenheiter Park and Webber. For more information, call (315) 687-3226 or email alan.m.johnson@att.net.
