Hamilton Public Library has chosen to honor Laurie Roelofs (pictured) as its volunteer of the year. Laurie was the backbone of the very popular Monarch Butterfly Project at the library for the past two years. She will be leaving our community before the butterfly eggs are laid this year. Barb Coger, library director, suggests that we honor Laurie’s project by promoting the growth of the milkweed plants in the area as they are the sole food for the Monarch Butterfly.
Hamilton Public Library news
(Hamilton, NY – June 2012) Hamilton Public Library will be hosting a book talk and signing by Mishell Kyle Forward-Magnusson Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. The author will present “Madison and Hamilton,” an Arcadia publication. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
On the same day, children may start registering for Bibliomania, our summer reading board game. Although registration and the game continue throughout the summer, children may begin stockpiling time to play the game as soon as they have registered. Each child will receive a “Dream Big – READ” book bag, which includes a special calendar for recording any time spent reading or listening to books.
Mark your calendars for a visit from The Utica Zoomobile Wednesday, June 27, at 2:30 p.m. This program will be the first of four family programs and will be held in the library’s air-conditioned Community Room.
