To the Editor:

(Chittenango, NY – Aug. 2012) On behalf of the Chittenango Bicentennial Committee, we wish to express our thanks for the assistance we received with the Bicentennial Celebration and Mural Dedication July 28:

* Members of the Bicentennial Committee for the time given for meetings and planning over the last two years;

* The Village of Chittenango Department of Public Works for their assistance in setting up for the event, Jonathan DeFrees and his painting helpers for completing the murals;

* Chittenango Rotary Club and Sullivan Leisure Time Club for having food available;

* Oneida Savings Bank for face-painting and balloons;

* Renee Graverson for the design of our bicentennial brochure;

* Margaret Kelsey for singing the national anthem;

* Chittenango High School Dixieland Band and Cliff Chander’s Northwinds ensemble for providing music for the event;

* First Presbyterian Church for donating space for doing the murals;

* Partipants in the bicentennial medallion hunt, including winner Linda Kendall;

* Merchants who donated for the medallion hunt prize;

* Crouse Construction for providing our stage;

* Greg Ellstrom and the actors in the play “Chittenango Home Companion;”

* the Garden Club and Music Boosters who had refreshments available;

* and, finally, everyone who turned out for the event Saturday.

We hope everyone learned something about our community’s past and will enjoy the murals in the years to come.
