The Smithfield Community Center at 5255 Pleasant Valley Road will be transformed to a tea room for the Elizabeth Smith Miller In the Kitchen Teas Sept. 22 and 23.
Special table settings are created for each Elizabeth Smith Miller In the Kitchen Tea at the Smithfield Community Center.
(Peterboro, NY – Sept. 2012) The committee that plans the annual In the Kitchen Tea to celebrate Elizabeth Smith Miller’s birthday has added a children’s tea to the weekend celebration. The Smithfield Community Center at 5255 Pleasant Valley Road will be turned into a fully decorated tea room for two days.
The Children’s Tea begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 22 with an afternoon of fun, crafts and tea for young ones with an adult. Specially prepared tea trays complete with delicate tea cups will be served to guests. Tea hosts will be dressed in costumes of different time periods.
The winner of the Name the Era will receive a special prize. All ages are welcomed but Victorian take-home crafts are suitable for ages 3 to 15 years. Tea hosts supervise the afternoon with adult participation encouraged. Guests are also encouraged to enhance their afternoon by dressing in “Sunday best.”
Girl Scouts registering for the tea are invited to come early to a special pre-tea private reception at 1:30 p.m. with Juliette Gordon Low.
The cost to attend is $25 per child/adult ($10 per extra guests). Reservations are due Sept. 14 online at mercantile.gerritsmith.org or to Smithfield Community Association, P.O. Box 72, Peterboro NY 13134.
Proceeds benefit the Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark.
