(Herkimer, NY – Sept. 2012) Herkimer County Community College is hosting a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony to mark the 11th anniversary of the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The Remembrance Ceremony will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11 on the Herkimer campus at the main flagpoles, outside the Ronald F. Williams Library Building at 10 a.m. (In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be in the McLaughlin College Center amphitheater.)
Dr. Ann Marie Murray, president of Herkimer County Community College, will deliver the welcome and Donald J. Snyder, chairman of the HCCC Board of Trustees, will bring remarks. Freshman vocalist Kevin Montano, Sauquoit, will perform the National Anthem. Professor of Radio-TV Broadcasting, Kalman Socolof, will be the faculty speaker. Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Trevor, Ilion Fire Department, will be speaking on behalf of the community. Sophomore Nicole Todd, Herkimer, Vice President of the Student Government Association, will be the student speaker for the ceremony.
The College will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items in support of regional food pantries, as part of the National Day of Remembrance & Service, coordinated by the Genesis Group.
The public is welcome to attend.
