Madison County Farm Bureau President Darrell Griff said the purpose of the annual meeting is to adopt legislative policy resolutions, listen to county committee activity reports and to elect members of the county’s board of directors for the 2012-13 year.
This year’s annual meeting will feature a presentation by James Zecca, director of Solid Waste for Madison County, who will discuss some of the renewable energy projects underway at the Madison County Landfill.
Griff said the meeting is the first step in the adoption of New York Farm Bureau policy. Members will vote on resolutions, which will be submitted to the state annual meeting delegates in Albany Dec. 4 through 6. Some of the topics to be discussed will include discussion about dairy policy, natural gas drilling and animal welfare issues.
The Madison County Farm Bureau is one of 52 in New York. Total state membership is 30,000, and membership in Madison County totals 425. The Madison County Farm Bureau encourages its members to attend the annual meeting and take part in deciding the legislative issues that Farm Bureau should work on in the next year.
