(Town of Nelson, NY – Oct. 2012) Beezie Madden will be welcomed back from her third straight Olympic Games at a free family-friendly community reception Sunday, Oct. 14, at 4 p.m., at the Cazenovia College Equine Education Center, 4460 Woodfield Road, Cazenovia (off Route 92 about 1 mile west of the Route 20 intersection).
Madden will be the recipient of an Equine Ambassador Award from the New York Farm Bureau (nyfb.org). The event will also include an autograph session with Madden and opportunities to view memorabilia from her show jumping success. The day after this celebration, she will be inducted into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame (syracusehalloffame.com).
Madden has represented equine sports and the Central New York community at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics. In 2008, she was a member of the Gold Medal Olympic team and in 2011 was a member of the U.S. Gold Medal-Winning team at the Pan American Games.
She is the first American rider to ever reach the top three in the Show Jumping World Rankings List and she was the first woman to pass the $1 million mark in show-jumping earnings.
She and her husband, John Madden, own and operate John Madden Sales, Inc., in Cazenovia, where they train, sell and compete with some of the world’s best equestrian athletes in the sport of show jumping.
