(Utica, NY – Oct. 11, 2012) The Peacemaker Program, Inc held its Community Peacemaker Awards Breakfast at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Utica. The breakfast was held to honor the program volunteers who during the past year have contributed over 3,000 volunteer hours resolving disputes or advocating for children of abuse and neglect.
Supreme Court Justice Erin P. Gall, was the guest speaker and Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Jr. proclaimed October 11, 2012, Dispute Resolution Day in Oneida County. For the first time, a Community Peacemaker Award was given to Maria Elena Santos. The Community Peacemaker Award was chosen from nominations received by the Peacemaker Program from members of the community.
Other award winners were; Sally Townsend CASA Volunteer of the Year, Jack Klump Dispute Resolution Volunteer of the Year, Tracy Murphy, Surrogate Decision Making Committee Volunteer of the Year, Patrick O’Connor Board President’s Award, Sue Gustafson Executive Director’s Award and Melinda Walsh Court Person of the Year.
