Karing Kitchen Announces Hours; Red Kettle Campaign Seeks Volunteers

(Oneida, NY – Oct. 2012) The Karing Kitchen (a mission of Oneida Area Council of Churches) will be in operation with a coffee hour each day from Monday, Oct. 22, until Saturday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oneida Recreation Center, 217 Cedar St. The coffee hour will be followed by a luncheon served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Take outs are available.

The kitchen is open to all regardless of residence, age or income. Karing Kitchen is also currently accepting Food Sense orders. The last day to order for November’s delivery will be Thursday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Oneida Recreation Department. Order payments accepted are Food Stamps, cash and checks made payable to Karing Kitchen.

The Salvation Army Oneida Service Unit will be taking Christmas applications during Karing Kitchen in October (at Oneida Recreation Department; 217 Cedar St.) from Monday, Oct. 22, through Saturday, Oct. 29, and in November (at First United Methodist Church; corner of Grove and Main St.), Monday, Nov. 12, through Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

There will be additional evening hours Thursday, Nov. 1, and Wednesday, Nov. 28 (at Oneida Recreation Department; 217 Cedar St.) from 5 to 7 p.m. with an additional Saturday, Nov. 10, at First United Methodist Church during the annual coat giveaway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Information needed is proof of all in household, proof of all income and proof of all expenses. See King, Karing Kitchen coordinator, to sign up and for any questions.

The Salvation Army Oneida Service Unit is looking for volunteers to assist with The Red Kettle Campaign and the Christmas toy and food distribution. Volunteers are asked to email oacckaringkitchen@yahoo.com with name, phone number, times of availability and area interested in.
