(Town of Lenox, NY – Oct. 25, 2012) The story on the town of Lenox’s tentative budget – particularly the supervisor’s salary portion – printed in our Oct. 24 edition of the Madison County Courier and posted to this website yesterday needs clarifying.
Some of the salary portion of the story was broken down by departments, and that included the supervisor’s office. Written was “the town supervisor from $58,435 to $61,852” in reference to the department’s personal services line on the budget. The budget in Lenox Supervisor Rocco DiVeronica’s department includes secretaries’ salaries.
A public hearing on the preliminary budget will be held Monday Oct. 29 at 7:15 p.m. At that time anyone for or against items contained in the budget can speak.
The town’s legal notice, printed in its paper of record reads as follows:
“Pursuant to Section 108 of the Town Law, the proposed salaries of the following town officials are hereby specified as follows: Supervisor – $20,000; Councilman (4) $7,500 each; Highway Superintendent – $53, 811; Town Clerk/Tax Collector – $44, 601.
Further notice is hereby given that said hearing will also include consideration of the budgets of the following districts- Douglas Heights, Scenic Heights, MaryLynn Drive and Willow Acres Lighting Districts, Lenox Fire Protection, Lenox Water #1-11, South Shore Sewer #1-3, and Sewer Districts 4-8.”
