Railway Historical Society to Meet Nov. 9

(New Hartford, NY – Nov. 2012) The Utica and Mohawk Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society will meet on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church on the corners of French and Burrstone Roads in the Town of New Hartford.

There will be a business portion conducted by President Doug Preston with reports cm the restoration of New York Central Steam Switcher 6721, the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, the Utica, Chenengo and Susquehanna Narrow Gauge Railroad, Christmas on Main Street, a possible Amtrak trip to Schenectady, the potluck Christmas Dinner in December, plus many more activities and projects ahead for us in the coming months.

After the break, Utica and Mohawk Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society Vice President Harry Lenz will have a DVD on the history of the Canadian Pacific’s later Via Rail Canada’s premier tram the Canadian that travels from Vancouver, British Columbia to Montreal Quebec in Canada. The DVD will also have a special segment on the building of the train by the Budd Railroad Car Company in Philadelphia, Pa. where the train’s cars were built.

This meeting is open to anyone who is interested hi the railroads of the United States and Canada, Railroad History and Canadian History. We invite all of our guests attending the meeting the opportunity to join the Utica and Mohawk Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society as regular members.
