Hamilton Public Library News

(Hamilton, NY – Nov. 2012) Many thanks to the Madison Lane Community Center and residents for hosting our story time families Election Day! It was a wonderful opportunity to bring community members together. The refreshments provided by the Madison Lane Community Center were enjoyed by all.

Harold and the Purple Crayon? Green Eggs and Ham? What is your favorite picture book? November has been deemed Picture Book Month! Paul Zelinsky explains that “picture books are a unique form of storytelling, and storytelling is at the core of how we learn to experience the world. Picture books are the bridge to a life of reading.”

We hope you’ll take some time this month to reflect on your favorite picture book. Please stop by the library to browse our collection, or share a picture book with someone you care about! Interested in more information about picture book month, please visit picturebookmonth.com/.

A reminder that local author Cheryl Pula will be presenting at the library Saturday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. Cheryl’s historical fiction series is about the Eighth Air Force and their experiences in World War II. This series is based on her interviews with World War II veterans.

The Rookie, her third book in this series, was published this past summer, and she hopes to release a fourth book this winter. Cheryl’s program on the 17th will include a presentation about the Eighth Air Force, along with a book signing. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library at this event.

We hope you’ll join us and help spread the word to others you know who may be interested in attending.

The library will be closing at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, and will be closed all day Thanksgiving.
