Boy Scouts Deliver Food throughout Three Counties

(Madison, Oneida, Herkimer, NY – Nov. 2012) The Revolutionary Trails Council wants to thank and acknowledge the contributions of our Scouts and the entire community for their support of our annual Scouting for Food Good Turn.

More than 50,000 pounds of canned food and other non-perishables were collected and delivered to 26 local food banks and pantries in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties by Scouts who are part of the Revolutionary Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America.  This year’s event, which took place on Saturday Nov. 10, helped those in need locally, as well as victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Local organizations that received food include: Camden Area Food Pantry, Caz Cares, Cluster 13 Food Pantry, Earlville Food Pantry, Feed Our Vets at American Legion in New Hartford, First Presbyterian Church in New Hartford, Food Bank at Federated Church in West Winfield, Hamilton Food Cupboard, Herkimer/Mohawk Food Pantry, Ilion Food Bank, Kuyahoora Valley Food Pantry, Methodist Church in Lee Center, Morrisville Catholic Church, Opportunity Shop of Canastota, Rome Rescue Mission, Sherrill Food Pantry, St. Johns Church Food Pantry in Newport, St. Paul’s Church in Oriskany, St. Patrick’s Church in Oneida, Sullivan Food Cupboard, Twin Churches in Holland Patent, Utica Food Pantry, Utica Rescue Mission, Verona Food Pantry, and the Methodist Church in Dolgeville.
