Canastota Public Library News

(Canastota, NY – Dec. 2012) Through Dec. 31 The Swamp Snappers of the Great Swamp Conservancy will be our guest artists for December. They will be displaying and selling their wonderful photography.  Their work is on display in the Lawson Community Room as well as on the first floor of the library, near the Circulation Desk.  What great Christmas gifts these photographs and cards make.

Mike Louis of Oneida will be displaying Holiday Items from the 1930’s in our Display Cases on the First Floor of the Library (near our Circulation Desk) during the month of December.  Browse his collection of ornaments, decorations and more.

Also in December, the library celebrates with Food For Fines. We will be accepting non-perishable food items in place of CPL fines.  We ask that the food donation be equal to the fine charged.  For instance, if a patron owes $2 for a late DVD, a box of rice might be an acceptable donation.  If several books are overdue, an acceptable donation might be a can of vegetables or soup.

We can only accept the donations for fees due to the Canastota Public Library.  All items will be donated to the Opportunity Shop to help keep their shelves full during the holiday season.

The Canastota Public Library will close at 1 p.m. Dec. 24 and be closed Christmas Day Dec. 25. The library will close at 4:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) and will be closed on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.

The library is located at 102 W. Center St.
