(Morrisville, NY – Dec. 2012Michelle Forward) Due to our Library Programmer’s immediate resignation to be a full time mom, we have cancelled several programs in January and February.  Please check our website for the up to date list of our current programming.  We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Come learn Tai Chi Chuan with Morrisville State College Professor William S. Snyder on Monday Jan. 7 at 6:30pm.  He will be doing this class for free every Monday so teens and adults; this is your chance to learn this and have fun.  If you cannot make that day, he will be here again on Monday Jan. 14.

Kiddies Korner will meet again on Tuesday Jan. 8 at 9:30am to hear the spectacular story by Jan Brett, The Mitten and make one to take home. If you can’t make that day, join us Jan. 15 to hear stories about snowballs and snowmen.

We will be showing the movie, Ice Age: Continental Drift on Friday Jan. 11 at 6:00pm.  Bring the family in for popcorn and this enlightening tale.

Don’t forget our Annual Canned Food Drive for the Morrisville Food Pantry.  This starts on Wednesday Jan. 2 and goes through Thursday February 28.  Please help us make it better than last year.  Not only will you be making a generous contribution to our food pantry, but for every item you donate, we will take a $1 off your outstanding fines.

We will be closed from until Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013.  We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have an excellent new year.

January Calendar of Events

Closures: We will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1, in observation of the New Year’s holiday and Monday, Jan. 21, in observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Canned Food Drive: We will be having our annual Canned Food Drive Jan. 2 through Feb. 28. Please help us make this year even more successful than last! Not only will you be making a generous contribution to our local food bank, but for every item you donate, we will take $1 off your outstanding fines.

Tai Chi Chuan Class: Come learn Tai Chi Chuan for free with instructor Bill Snyder. Classes will be held Mondays, Jan. 7, 14 and 28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Kiddies Korner: Bring the little ones Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and enjoy Jan Brett’s winter classic The Mitten!

Movie Night: Bring the family for popcorn and a movie Friday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. We will be showing the enlightening move, Ice Age: Continental Drift!

Book Talk: We are starting a monthly at night book talk! Join us or our first one Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 6:30 p.m. The book being discussed is Barbara Kingsolver’s novel, The Poisonwood Bible. Copies can be picked up the beginning of December.

Library Board Meeting: The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the meeting Thursday, Jan. 17, at 6:30 p.m.

Magical History Tour: Sue Greenhagen, Village Historian, will be hosting a “Magical History Tour” Friday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m. Morrisville 100 years ago was in many ways the same village it is now, but with some differences that are startling. Come and be surprised!

Kiddies Korner: Bring the little ones Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and read about dinosaurs!

Michelle A. Rounds is the Library Manager. The library is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 12pm to 8pm, Tuesday and Thursday 10am to 8pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
