(Oneida, Canastota, NY – Feb. 2013CAMPBELL-DEAN) Jana Haldenwang, of the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., has been selected as one of 50 funeral professionals from throughout the nation to attend a National Funeral Directors Association “Meet the Mentors” annual conference this spring.

Haldenwang is a licensed funeral director and licensed manager of the Canastota location for Campbell-Dean. She was selected from among candidates nationwide who applied to attend the elite professional development program for licensed funeral professionals under the age of 40. Only two others were chosen from New York State.

The professional development conference will be held in March at Emory University, Atlanta. It pairs attendees with three of the profession’s leading funeral directors to provide opportunities for the young professionals to learn about business operations and to gain insights about the future of the funeral service profession.

Haldenwang, a native of Verona and a VVS Central School graduate, resides in Canastota. She received her undergraduate degree from Kent State University in 1999 and her professional funeral service education from Simmons Institute of Funeral Service in 2001. She joined the Campbell-Dean firm in 2002. She is a certified bereavement facilitator from the American Academy of Bereavement, a member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, and a member and current president of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association. She also belongs to the New York State and National Funeral Directors Associations.

In 2011, Haldenwang was saluted as one of the “40 under 40” young professionals in the Central New York region. She is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and Benefactor to the Rotary International Foundation, and also presently serves as Assistant District Governor, Area 4, District 7150 Rotary International.
