(Oneida, NY- Feb. 2013) The Oneida Family YMCA received a $10,000 grant from the UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS (NYSE:UPS).  The grant will be used to purchase equipment, which will allow the Oneida Y Swim Team, the Dolphins, the opportunity to host swim meets at the Oneida YMCA facility.

In just a few short years, the team has grown from 12 swimmers to 70 swimmers. As the team has grown, so have the program demands. With the support of the UPS Foundation, the program will be able to continue to provide for the needs of its swimmers and enhance the opportunities that are provided the swimmers through the Oneida YMCA program.

Hosting home meets allows the team members and their families to come together with one goal in mind- provide a positive and healthy competitive experience for members on both teams. Home team members have a heightened sense of pride when they host a home meet and the Y swim program helps to connect the Y organization to surrounding Oneida communities.

“The UPS Foundation is committed to funding impactful programs that make a meaningful difference in our communities – so we are proud to support the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley’s efforts to host swim meets at their facility,” said Ken Sternad, president of The UPS Foundation.
