(Bridgeport, NY- Feb. 2013) Madison County Habitat for Humanity will be celebrating the completion of our most recent home renovation Sunday, March 3, at 2 p.m.

The celebration is open to the public.

The house, located at 9035 Hamilton Brown Road, Bridgeport, was donated to our organization many years ago by the Hale family. The house was renovated and a family moved in, after that family moved on, we once again renovated it to prepare it for a family in need of modest, dependable housing.

Hundreds of hours have been volunteered to replace and repair floors and walls, build a new kitchen and mud room, paint, plumb, clean and complete this house.

Habitat for Humanity lends a hand up, not a hand out. We provide the opportunity for families to move from substandard housing into affordable, modest housing by building or remodeling homes and holding the mortgage at 0-percent interest.

The family is also required to complete 500 hours of “sweat equity,” working alongside volunteers helping in each step and learning basic skills one would use in maintaining their home.

Much of the material for this renovation was donated by both companies and individuals including flooring, kitchen cupboards and paint. Special thanks go out to the donors and volunteers as well as Dunkin’ Donuts of Bridgeport for many dozens of doughnuts donated throughout this renovation and Fisher Bay Too Go for deep discounts on their delicious pizzas.
