March is National Bluebird Month

(Canastota, NY – March 2013) bluebirds for webTo celebrate the return of the bluebirds, fiber artist Barbara Barker will teach a dry or needlefelting class making life size bluebirds Saturday March 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Great Swamp Conservancy. Cost of class is $20 and the kit is $6 Class limited to 10 participants ages 12 to adult.

Barker, retired beautician and shop owner, has been a fiber artist most of her life.  She has taught needlefelting classes for more than 20 years; her felted items have been sold at area art and craft shows. She is also an art doll designer, seed bead and bead jewelry designer. Her dolls, needlefelted items and jewelry have been published in magazines.

Barker is a founding member of the Doll as Art Guild, established in 2004, which changed their name to Dolls as Art recently. A member of the GSC, Barbara joined the Board of Directors December 2012.
