Middle schoolers complete several fundraisers

(Chittenango, NY – April 2013) Chittenango Middle School students have been busy this month supporting the Sullivan Food Cupboard. The faculty and PTA held a basketball game with the proceeds going to the cupboard. Admission was cash and/or food.  Collected were $285 and a sizeable amount of food.

The students also were busy in the kitchen. The King Arthur Flour Project Life Skills Program provided instruction and materials for students in grades six and seven to make bread.  King Arthur Flour provided the flour and the directions to make bread. The students were to take the flour home and bake two loaves of bread.  One loaf they could keep and the other to be donated to a charity.

The students donated their baked bread to Sullivan Food Cupboard.  Almost a hundred loaves were delivered to the cupboard encased in a plastic wrapper labeled that the bread was baked by Chittenango Middle School students.

The delivery was made in two stages.  The first stage was quickly taken by clients at the cupboard.  The second stage arrived Monday March 25.

“We are all proud of the students, faculty, staff and parents at Chittenango Middle School for their awareness of the need in the Town of Sullivan,” said Bud Penner, secretary for the Sullivan Food Cupboard.
