Hamilton Public Library News

By Hilary Virgil

(Hamilton, NY – April 2013) Spring into the library to see the new picture books we’ve recently added to our collection. The “fractured fairytale” The Three Ninja Pigs by Corey Schwartz puts a new spin on an old classic.  While Patricia Polacco’s new book Bully focuses around the concept of cyber-bullying and working through social problems in a digital age.

Looking for a new twist on poetry?  Check out the Book Spine Poetry Contests on our Facebook page along with the page for the Colgate Bookstore.  Some very creative forms of expression, to be sure. We hope you’ll participate by posting your own contribution.  As part of National Poetry Month, both the Library and Bookstore will also be hosting opportunities through  our websites to sign up to receive a Poem-a-Day by email, courtesy of The Academy of American Poets.  Stop by either location throughout the month to take a “Poem for Your Pocket” or browse our poetry books on display.

The Community Art Show is in full swing and will remain up through May 10. While viewing the art exhibit, take a moment to look at the art books that are part of our special collection.  The books in this collection have been purchased with money donated in honor of Harris and Belle Rogers and are currently on display at the entrance to the Fireplace Room.

Additional information about library resources, programs and policies, as well as access to our online services is available through the library website midyorklib.org/wp/hamilton/.
