(Hamilton, NY – April 2013) The Colgate Bookstore will host “A Warm and Friendly Evening” with Sara J. Henry, author of the new novel, “A Cold and Lonely Place,” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the Colgate Inn, 1 Payne Street. The event is free and open to the public, but space may be limited. Advance sign-up is recommended at 315.228.6944 or www.colgatebookstore.com/rsvp.

Local blogger and occasional journalist Sami Martinez will facilitate a cozy fireside conversation between the audience and award-winning mystery writer Henry. Warm drinks and dessert will be provided while discussing suspense, secrets, crime and the challenges of writing fiction set in the chill of an Adirondack winter.

A book-signing will follow.

Copies of the author’s novels will be available at 25 percent off at the Colgate Bookstore prior to April 17 and at full price at the event.

Before publishing her first novel, Henry worked as a newspaper sports editor in the Adirondacks and has also been a book and magazine editor, freelance writer, webmaster, soil scientist and bicycle mechanic. A native of Oak Ridge, Tenn., she has a master’s degree in journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ont., and now calls southern Vermont home. Her first novel, “Learning to Swim,” was the winner of the 2011 Agatha Award for Best First Novel and the 2012 Mary Higgins Clark Award from the Mystery Writers of America.
