Public to vote on proposed budget May 21

(Cazenovia, NY – April 2013) The Cazenovia Central School District Board of Education will hold one last budget work session at 6:30 p.m. Monday April 15, in the high school auditorium.

The session will include a review of the district’s final 2013-14 budget proposal, as well as a discussion of the $327,210 in additional school aid included in the state budget approved by the New York Senate and Assembly last week.

“This session will be the last opportunity for community members to offer feedback on the budget before the Board formally adopts it on April 22,” Superintendent of Schools Robert Dubik said.

Although last week’s jump in state aid significantly reduces the budget gap Cazenovia faces in 2013-14, the additional funds alone will not close it.

The district still must eliminate another $278,000 in expenses to balance its proposed 2013-14 budget of $26,362,662, according to Assistant Superintendent Bill Furlong.

Residents vote on the 2013-14 budget proposal 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 21.
