College to host summer exhibition of pastel paintings by area artists

(Cazenovia, NY – April 2013) Cazenovia College’s 2013 Summer Art Series will host a juried pastel art exhibition open to pastel artists who are over the age of 18 and residing in the Central New York area (generally Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego and Tompkins counties).

The exhibition will run from June 8 to August 4, 2013, at the Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall. Summer exhibitions offer an opportunity for the College and community to join together to foster creativity and support the world of art.

Submissions for the exhibition will be juried by the Summer Art Series committee. Each pastel artist may submit up to three images for consideration. To support the College’s Summer Art Series, there will be a fee of $15 for the first entry, $10 for the second entry and $5 for the third entry. All subjects and styles are eligible. Paintings must be at least 80 percent pastel, firmly framed, with eye screws and strong wire; ready to hang. The size limit is 48″ framed, in either direction.

This exhibition provides an opportunity for artists to sell their work, with 20 percent of the purchase price donated to the Cazenovia College Summer Art Series. All paintings accepted must be delivered to the Gallery in person by the artist or a representative. The College cannot accept crated work delivered by any commercial carrier for this exhibition.

Entries must be received at Cazenovia College by May 13, 2013. The prospectus and entry form will be available online at www.cazenovia.edu/art-gallery, or call Sylvia Needel at 315-655-7261, or email sneedel@cazenovia.edu, to have them mailed or emailed to you.

The Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall, 6 Sullivan St., is on the corner of Sullivan and Seminary streets in Cazenovia. All exhibitions are free and open to the public, and the gallery is handicapped accessible. Summer Art Series hours are Friday, 6-8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 1-4 p.m.
