(Town of Lenox, NY – April 2013) It’s been about three or more years in the process but the construction bidding for Water District 12 has been approved by the Lenox Town Board. The board passed a resolution at its monthly meeting April 8 to put the project out for bid.

The town received a letter from USDA Rural Development stating the 38 year loan interest dropped from around 2.4 percent to 1.87 percent, according to town Supervisor Rocco DiVeronica.

He said with the help of State Senators Charles Schumer and Kirstin Gillibrand and Representative Richard Hanna, grants for the project were nearly $1 million of the $3 million project.

“I’m going to try and get some funding from EFC (New York State Facilities Corporation) for laterals,” DiVeronica said. He said there are 229 units in the district, each expected to pay around $595 per year for the cost of the project.

The district includes parts of Whitelaw and Lewis Point roads, Route 13 and N. Court Street.

A completion date of July 31, 2014 is expected.
