(Earlville, NY – April 2013) The Earlville Opera House Galleries opens two new exhibits on April 20 through May 25, with unlocking secrets and stories about immigration as the themes inspiring the artists’ work.

The new exhibits open concurrently with the TeensART exhibit and provide insights into contemporary art for old and young alike.

Ithaca artist Jane Dennis “Immigration Series” is a mixed-media installation that visualizes myriad stories as told to the artist by people immigrating to the United States, as well as by Customs and Border Protection officers.  Her work is a hybrid of sculpture and painting.

In the East Gallery, fiber artist SoukJin Park uses yarns and threads to explore connections between the psyche and healing in her exhibition Unlocking Secrets.

A reception for the artists will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday April 20.  Refreshments will be served, and admission is free.  Exhibits will run through May 25.

The EOH Galleries are located at 18 East Main St. in Earlville and are open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and on Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m.
