(Utica, NY – May 6, 2013) On-Line poll location released for the college competition going on now for the re-design of the City of Utica’s website. The project will culminate at 5 p.m. on May 9 with the winning design revealed to the participating students representing all three higher learning institutions within the borders of Utica.

and vote on-line with videos of all three presentations or you can stop by the lobby of City Hall and view blown up images of the designs and vote in person at the City Clerk’s office with a paper ballot.
This project was initiated Councilman Joe Marino (D-4) who came up with the idea to try and solve two glaring problems that he has had concerns with for years, “The first thing I thought of in doing this project was how wonderful our higher learning institutions are right here in Utica but the fact is our youth are leaving when they graduate, so I thought of a way to get our youth invested in our area and our government to give them a sense of pride. The other part of this was that are web site was so outdated and impossible to maintain transparency that our citizens so badly want and deserve, upgrading it was a no brainier for me because I am a firm proponent of transparency. Reversing the so called “Brain Drain” of our area is vital to me and I will continue to involve our youth as often as I can, thankfully these schools and there students have embraced this project and the City wonderfully, because none of this would have been possible without them.”
IT Director Frank Mutolo has been overseeing the day to day operations of the competition and has been vital in working with the schools and there students for trouble shooting and questions.
