Cazenovia library new(Cazenovia, NY – Jan. 2015) The second of a three-part series by the Alzheimer’s Association, Central NY Chapter,—“Living with Alzheimer’s: For Mid-Stage Caregivers”—will be offered at the Cazenovia Public Library on Wednesday Jan. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Library Community Room.

When someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, friends and family have many questions.  This workshop is designed to provide caregivers with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to cope with a diagnosis of ‘Alzheimer’s or related dementia.

Issues that will be addressed are:

  • Symptoms associated with mid-stage Alzheimer’s
  • Communication issues
  • Providing personal care
  • Behavior changes
  • Medication management
  • Home safety, driving, and wandering
  • Care options, including day programs, in-home care, and other living options.
  • Caregiver needs.
