alice becker0001(Canastota, NY – April 7, 2015) Alice Marie (Graszler) Becker passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 7th, after a lengthy, courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born in Oneida on April 26, 1943 to Justin and Katherine Graszler and raised in the Catholic faith. Alice was the youngest of three siblings and graduated from Oneida High School in 1962.

During her younger days, she loved to spend time caring for and riding her horse, “Sonny.” She was also an active member of her local 4-H chapter.

On December 21st of 1962, Alice married John Becker in St. Joseph’s Church, Oneida. The couple settled in Canastota and raised two children there. Alice was a devoted housewife and mother who had a great sense of duty to her family. She felt that no job was more important than the one of raising and maintaining her family.

In later years, she took great joy in spending time with her four grandchildren and watching them grow. Watching the Boston Red Sox games and Syracuse basketball were a couple of her favorite past times.

Alice is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, John A. Becker; her two sons and daughters-in-law, John M. and Antoinette of Canastota and Patrick and Amy of Oneida; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Lyndsey, Sabrina and Wyatt Becker; one brother, Joseph Graszler of Phoenix, Arizona; three brothers-in-law and their wives, James and Judy Becker, Charles and Sharon Becker and Jerry and Sharon Becker; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Richard Graszler.

Funeral services will be held 10AM, Saturday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 S. Peterboro Street, Canastota, with the Reverend William Mesmer, Pastor, officiating.  Interment will be made in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home 4-7 PM Friday.  In lieu of flowers and due to Alice’s love of animals, the family is requesting donations be made to Wanderers Rest, Po Box 535, Canastota, NY  13032.
