american_red_crossmccThe American Red Cross of Central New York is hosting a volunteer enrollment event on Tuesday, April 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Syracuse office at 344 West Genesee St.

This event is open to anyone who is considering joining the American Red Cross as a volunteer. It is an informal enrollment event where the community can learn more about the Red Cross and the services it provides for Central New York residents. A representative from each line of service will be on-site, giving community members the opportunity to examine all needs and apply immediately. Light refreshments will also be provided.

“It is rewarding to be able to help people in need,” said Mike Kinahan, a volunteer for the Red Cross in Syracuse since 1993. Kinahan is a member of the Disaster Action Team (DAT), which responds to local emergencies and nationwide disasters. Learn more from the team of experienced staff and mentors who would share their knowledge during the training for future volunteers.

Everyone is invited to attend to find out how they can help fulfill the Red Cross mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Join Disaster Services, Blood Services, Service to the Armed Forces, and Health and Safety Services. People of all skills and levels of experience are encouraged to become involved.
