rcilThe Resource Center for Independent Living will be presenting its inaugural Victorian Sweet Room and Gift Shop on Wednesday, Nov. 30, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Dorothy Smith Center for Advocacy located at 1607 Genesee St., Utica.

The Dorothy Smith Center will be transformed into a Victorian-style venue where guests will enjoy sampling local sweets and baked goods from area merchants while shopping over 30 local vendors offering unique holiday items.

There will be a “Chance Auction” where guests may purchase “chances” to win a number of different door prizes ranging from Gift Baskets and certificates from local shops & eateries; to the Grand Prize of a one-week stay in Bradenton Beach, Florida!

This event is a fundraiser for RCIL, a non-profit organization that assists people with disabilities to control and direct their own care to live their lives, their way. This year’s Victorian Sweet Room and Gift Shop are proudly sponsored by Crown Risk Management, Adirondack Bank, Adirondack Financial Services, Exclusively Yours and your local area McDonald’s Restaurants.

Admission is $25 both in advance and at the door. Your support of this event allows RCIL to continue providing quality programs and services to people with disabilities and serves to create societal change where everyone’s contributions and values are welcomed. RCIL sees a world where everyone who wants to achieve their goals has the tools to reach their fullest potential, free from restrictive systems and policies that create unnecessary barriers to independent living.

Call for vendors: RCIL is looking for vendors who would like to help support their organization while also promoting their unique gifts, products or food items during this holiday season. Vendor cost is $20 for space rental plus the donation of an item with a minimum value of $20 to be used in an auction during the event. A 6-foot table and 2 chairs will be provided by RCIL. All spaces will be 6 feet long and 6 feet deep. One adult 18 and older must be at the booth at all times. There will be no vendor-charge for food vendors who provide enough samples for at least 100 people. Interested vendors should contact RCIL at 315-272- 2986.
