The Great Swamp Conservancy will be hosting its 16th annual fundraiser honoring the return of migratory birds on May 6th and 7th. This celebration will be full of unique, down-home environmental and conservation activities and entertainment for all ages (10 am – 4 pm).

Saturday, May 6th includes: David Garrett of Peaceful Hollow Farm will exhibiting a variety of migratory and domestic geese and ducks with scheduled presentations. Jennifer Clark, wildlife rehabilitator, will bring her pet mobile for a hands on animal experience. Wanderer’s Rest and 7 Trees goat farm will also be present.

Come hungry for the chicken BBQ that is on Saturday only. Enjoy a ½ chicken, baked beans, baked potato, roll, dessert and water for $10 or stop at the Lady Bug Café for a Hofmann hotdog or a hamburger and other goodies. Dove Creek will provide Americana folk tunes for the afternoon. A guided bird walk to the Great Blue Heron Rookery to view the baby blues will be on the “don’t miss” agenda both days. Wildlife artists and crafters will be displaying and selling their wares. Find that special Mother’s Day gift crafted by local artists.

Sunday, May 7th will include Utica Zoo Mobile, Falconer Rick West with “Westy’s” Birds of Prey. Music will be performed by the Greene Days & High Water Band. A 20th year anniversary cake will be served to everyone attending the festival on Sunday.

Both days include a Duck Call contest, tractor/wagon rides to the Overlook in search of migratory birds, guided bird walks, an outstanding children’s nature area with games, corn pit and crafts. Join the drum circle (bring your drums),

visit the baby pheasants, stop by the “Wetland Creature of the Hour” talk/demo, explore pond life to catch, ID and release, make a birdhouse, book sale, sack races and much more. At the admission gate pick up your free garden seeds and starter pots.
