Four Herkimer College baseball players have been selected All-Region
Leon Babcock, of Bloomfield, Ct., was a first team selection. A Felician College commit on a scholarship, Babcock held down the designated hitter role with four home runs, seven doubles and two triples to go along with his .300 average. He graduated from Herkimer College in May 2017 with an associate in science degree in cybersecurity.
Brandon Hubbard, of Rockville, Md., was a first team selection for the infield. Hubbard hit .453 for the Generals holding down the third spot in the batting order for the majority of the season. He was tied for first on the team in RBI’s with 42 and added 19 doubles with two home runs. He graduated in May 2017 with an associate in arts degree in general studies and will be attending Campbell University on a scholarship.
Christian Aybar, of Pawtucket, RI, was a first team selection outfielder. Aybar hit .409 from the leadoff spot
and added 15 doubles, three triples and two home runs. He successfully stole 26 bases and was an exceptional defender all season. Aybar graduated in May 2017 with an associate degree in business administration and will continue his education at South Carolina-Beaufort on a scholarship.
Greg Musk, of Rotterdam Junction, was named to the All-Region team for the second consecutive year. Musk went 7-0 this year, striking out 84 hitters over 51 innings pitched. His strikeout total is second in school history behind Tampa Bay draft pick Willie Gabay. Musk went 14-1 in two years on the mound for the Generals.
He graduated in May 2017 with a degree in general studies and will continue his education at the College of St. Rose on a scholarship.
Herkimer College baseball had a strong regular season, finishing as the #1 seed in the east and winning the Mountain Valley Conference championship for the sixth consecutive season.
The Herkimer Generals athletic program won the 2016-17 National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup, ranking Herkimer College first in the nation among two-year college non-scholarship athletic programs based on championship competition.
