Fred “Fritz” Scherz, Jr., Councilman on the Verona Town Board in Verona, announced today that he has selected Racheal Cadrette and Olivia Musacchio both from the Town of Verona as the co-winners of the 8th Annual Fred Scherz Sr. Memorial Scholarship for Volunteer Community Service.
Ms. Cadrette has volunteered for the “Tour de Cure,” the Special Olympics, Adopt a Highway, and Math Buddies, as well as numerous other activities. Ms. Musacchio has volunteered for the Town of Verona Summer Park Program, the Special Olympics, Turning Stone Resort and Casino Races, and Vacation Bible School, as well as many other activities. As co-winners of this award, Ms. Cadrette and Ms. Musacchio each received a certificate of accomplishment and a check for $125.
“Upon reviewing this year’s applications, I narrowed it down to Ms. Cadrette and Ms. Musacchio,” said Scherz. “After a few weeks of trying to choose a single winner, I came to the conclusion that both were worthy, as it’s obvious Racheal and Olivia both care about not only the Verona community, but the surrounding areas as well, as their volunteerism has extended beyond the Town of Verona. I congratulate Racheal and Olivia for not only winning the scholarship, but for also setting a great example for others to follow. On a personal note, I know my Dad would’ve been impressed with the on-going volunteer efforts of both of these young women!”
