The Week of July 16 through July 22 is Engineering Week at the Canastota Public Library and the fourth week of our Summer Reading Program, “Build A Better World”. The programs being offered during the week will all have an engineering theme.
Monday, July 17: Monday afternoon at 2pm, kids (ages 10 and up) can engineer a vehicle that using breath or wind for our Maker Monday program. Puff Mobiles will be made using materials provided by the library. Then, we’ll test our vehicles either in the parking lot or on the second floor of the library!
Tuesday, July 18: Engineer a poem today at the Canastota Public Library. Poet Michael Czarnecki will be here to provide poetry workshop. Our afternoon program which begins at 2pm is for Adult poets. RSVPs are suggested but walk-ins are welcome!
Wednesday, July 19: At 10pm, caregivers and their babies will meet at Baby & Me Lapsit with Miss Angela. Stories, sing alongs and fingerplays are so much fun! And, there is even a craft that follows!
At 1:30pm, the Teen Book Club will meet in the Lawson Community Room.
In Our Children’s Area at 7pm, Theresa Wood will introduce youngsters to American Girl Doll, Samantha and the Suffragettes. In this program, Wood follows the history of women suffragettes with beloved American Girl doll character, Samantha Parkington from NY. This spunky gal is a well-off, proper Victorian young lady in the year 1904 who has to learn the fine art of being a lady–proper manners and all.
Samantha’s House will also be a big part of the evening! Join us for all the fun, all dolls welcome!
