On Aug. 12, the CNY Chapter #490 Military Order of the Purple Heart Veterans’ Organization will hold its eighth annual Purple Heart Motorcycle Ride. The Ride is being held in conjunction with Harley-Davidson of Utica’s Military Appreciation Event featuring catering, contests, games, vendors, beer and soda music and more.
The Ride will start at Harley-Davidson of Utica located at 4870 Commercial Drive, New York Mills. Registration for the Ride starts at 8 a.m. with a brief ceremony and leaves at 10 a.m. The ride consists an approximate two-hour ride with a stop and returning to Harley-Davidson of Utica for the Saturday afternoon Bike Event.
Pre-registration cost is $25 per bike and $10 for passengers. The cost the day of the Ride will be $30 per bike and $10 for passengers. Cars and trucks may also participate and be allowed to follow the motorcycle riders.
All proceeds this year will go to help fund a Bus Trip to take Gold Star Families and Combat Wounded Purple Heart Recipients to their National Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Windsor, along with a tour and Luncheon at the U.S. Army’s Military Academy at West Point.
A special Purple Heart Ride t-shirt, pins and a 50/50 raffle will be available for the fundraiser.
