Brew at the Zoo & Wine Too is Aug. 4, and it’s Bigger than Ever

Excitement is brewing for the 21st annual Brew at the Zoo & Wine Too! – one of the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo’s largest fundraisers to support Central New York’s top accredited zoo.

Brew at the Zoo is a summer tradition in CNY. This year, sponsors Spirit & Sanzone, TJ Sheehan and Tops are providing an exciting variety of 49 beer, wine and food stations around the zoo while guests enjoy music and animals on evening exhibit.

Tickets for the adult-only (21 and older) event are $55 in advance, $50 for groups of six or more, and $65 at the door if available. Brew at the Zoo typically sells out every year, so get tickets while they last at rosamondgiffordzoo.org.

“Brew is a very special event for us because it’s a key fundraiser that helps the Friends of the Zoo maintain this wonderful institution for our community,” said Friends of the Zoo President Janet Agostini.

“Our sponsors TJ Sheehan and Spirit & Sanzone are offering nearly 40 different beer-tasting stations, many of them local craft breweries that have put Central New York on the map,” Agostini said. “We also have several wine-tasting stations, and 10 food stations including local favorites Gianelli sausage, Hoffman hot dogs and pulled pork sliders – plus cannoli for dessert – all provided by our friends at Tops.”

The unique experience of strolling around the zoo after hours with music playing and animals on exhibit is a popular attraction, said Zoo Director Ted Fox.

“We’re grateful for the support of the community and to Friends of the Zoo for hosting this fundraiser,” he said.

Brew-goers also have a chance to participate in a silent auction whose prizes include two round-trip tickets on JetBlue, a night at the Jefferson Clinton Hotel, autographed local sports memorabilia, and paintings by our very own animal artists listed as “priceless” in the event program, among many others.

The zoo also will be selling limited edition ‘Summer of Siri’ T-shirts honoring our Asian elephant Siri’s 50th birthday for $20 each to help fund animal care and conservation at the zoo.

Brew at the Zoo runs 5:30 to 8 p.m. Parking is available but limited at the zoo. Free round-trip shuttle buses will run from the MOST in Armory Square every 15 minutes starting at 5 p.m.
