On Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at approximately 8 pm, State Police in Fulton responded to 253 County Route 57 in the Town of Schroeppel for a reported man trapped under a vehicle near the Oswego River. When Troopers arrived, they discovered a man was pulled to safety by three men who heard him yelling for help.

The investigation revealed that the 66-year-old man had driven across his backyard in his H3 Hummer to get a view of the shoreline. When he attempted to return back to his residence, he accidentally backed the truck into the river. The driver then exited the vehicle in an attempt to free the truck and somehow became pinned underneath the vehicle.

The driver stated that he was submerged in the water for approximately 45 minutes and being bitten by snakes.

Three men from Sharon Chevrolet, who were leaving work, heard the victim yelling for help and trekked 30 yards through the woods from Sharon Chevrolet, in a rain storm, and found the victim in the Oswego River.

The victim was transported to Crouse Hospital for evaluation.
