Morrisville State College athletics released its 2017 field hockey schedule, a full line-up that features 17 different opponents, including eight that will meet the Mustangs on their home field.

Third year head coach Allison Beardsley returns to prepare the Mustangs for their opening weekend on Saturday, September 2nd, as Morrisville State plays host to Castleton University in a 4 p.m. non-conference battle. The Mustangs waste no time in returning to the field Sunday, again in a non-conference bout with Elmira College.

Morrisville State will hit the road against St. Lawrence University on the 6th for the first time in the young season, before heading to Wells College on the 9th for a 1 p.m. outing with the rival Express.

The Mustangs return home to open State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on the 13th against SUNY New Paltz, a unit that finished second overall in the regular season standings with a 5-1 conference record.

Morrisville State hits the road on the 22nd for another SUNYAC battle, this time with defending regular season champion SUNY Cortland. Cortland finished last year’s conference slate with an undefeated 6-0 record.

A non-conference outing on the 23rd at Hartwick will prepare the Mustangs for a SUNYAC clash with Oswego who rolls into town on the 27th.

September closes out competition with a home contest against Wilson on the 30th.

Hamilton makes the short trek to the Mustang Valley to kick off action in October, meeting the Mustangs on Drake Field at 4 p.m., before Morrisville State travels for back-to-back SUNYAC contests, facing defending tournament champions SUNY Geneseo on the 6th, and following with runner-up Oneonta on the 11th.

Saturday, October 14th will bring Brockport to the Mustangs home field for the final SUNYAC regular season bout of 2017, before wrapping up the home schedule with a mid-week draw against Keuka on the 18th.

Morrisville State will hit the road against a brand new Bryn Athyn College program on the 20th, before heading East to Union College on the 25th. They conclude the regular season schedule on the 28th at Houghton.
