Colgate men’s tennis introduces class of 2021

Raiders Add Four Players for Upcoming Season After Successful 2016-17 Campaign

Colgate men’s tennis head coach Bobby Pennington has announced the men’s tennis team’s Class of 2021, featuring four players from across the country.

“On paper this is my best male recruiting class in my eleven years at Colgate,” Pennington said.” We have four talented, hungry guys ready to make an immediate impact with a four-star and three three-star players.”

“The future is very bright and the best is yet to be.”

The Raiders finished the 2016-17 season with a 10-9 overall record as well as a 3-2 mark in Patriot League play. It was the fourth straight season the Raiders finished with at least 10 wins and a winning record in conference play.

The incoming freshman class will replace one of the most successful classes in program history and the most successful under Pennington, finishing with a 48-32 record over four years.

Colgate returns two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection and 2014-15 Patriot League Rookie of the Year Jacob Daugherty (Burke, Virginia) along with rising juniors Alec Dardis (Laguna Niguel, California) and Noah Rosenblat (Deerfield, Illinois) from the 2016-17 starting lineup.

Stats: Finished his senior season 15-1-2 in singles and 15-2 in doubles for a combined record of 30-3-2…Won over 60 matches in both singles and doubles…Finished with a career record of 130-6-5 in four seasons…Posted a 63-3-5 career record in singles and 67-3 record in doubles

Honors: Four-time ISL All-League selection…New England Prep School Invitational Tournament (NEPSITT) Doubles Champion in 2013…Went undefeated in doubles in 2014 and 2015…Ranked in the Top 20 USTA New England singles ratings…Member of the No. 1 New England Prep School Doubles Team…Ranked as high as No. 301 nationally and is a three-star recruit from…Named Team MVP in 2017…Also served as team captain in 2017…High Honor Roll Student All Four Years at Belmont Hill.

Scott Bickel


Winnetka, Illinois

Graduated from New Trier High School in 2016…Lettered in tennis.

Stats: Finished his senior season with a 22-5 record at No. 1 singles…Tallied an 18-7 record in his career playing in the state tournament.

Honors: Named an All-American in 2016…Named IHSA First Team All-State and All-CSL…2016 State MVP…2014 Team MVP…Received honorable mention at the 2014 Decoturf National High School Championship…2016 IHSA State Champions where he played No. 1 singles…Runner-up in singles state tournament with a 6-1 record…Finished fifth in the country with New Trier at the 2014 Decoturf National High School Championship where he played No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles…Listed as a four-star recruit and was ranked No. 112 on June 13 by

Family: Son of Roger and Cindy Bickel…Has an identical twin brother, Tom, who is playing at Carnegie Mellon…Father, Roger, played collegiate tennis at Indiana University as well as professional tennis.


Peter Hartman


Birmingham, Alabama


Before Colgate

Graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 2017…Lettered in tennis…Member of the French Club, Investment Club and Ping Pong Club…Member of the National Honor Society.

Stats: Posted a record of 11-0 as a senior and 24-1 record in his career.

Honors: Named the 2016-17 Birmingham Kiwanis Club Jefferson County Tennis Player of the Year…Two-time First Team All-State…Three-time State Champion, competing at No. 1 singles and doubles in 2015-16 and 2016-17 as well as No. 2 singles and doubles in 2014-15…Named team captain in junior and senior seasons…Ranked No. 276 nationally on August 1, his highest ranking of the season, and is No. 3 in Alabama…Three-star recruit according to

Graduated from the University School in 2017…Lettered in tennis…Member of the Student Disciplinary Committee as well as One Love.

Stats: Finished his senior season with a 22-3 record…Finished third in Division I States in Doubles…Division I State Champions.

Honors: Two-time First Team All-State…Finished third in Division II Doubles followed by a third place finish in Division I as a senior…Third in Division II as a team…Named Team MVP as a senior…Ranked No. 379 nationally by
