Raiders Add Deeter for 2017-18 Season, Comes to Colgate from Western Reserve Academy
Colgate women’s tennis head coach Bobby Pennington has announced the addition of MacKenzie Deeter for the 2017-18 season, Colgate’s only member of the Class of 2021.
“I am thrilled to welcome Mackenzie to the women’s team,” Pennington said. “I am confident she will be an impact player on our squad and help contribute to the momentum we have built from our winning season last year.”
The Raiders are coming off their best season since 2012-13, finishing last season with a record of 9-9. Colgate’s 3-1 record in Patriot League play also stood as their best finish in the league since 2006-07, when they also finished 3-1.
Deeter will look to jump into a lineup that graduated three players from the Class of 2017, led by Academic All-Patriot League Selection Kaelin Brittin (McLean, Virginia) as well as Hannah Fleckenstein (Newburgh) and Kirstie Woodbury (Winnetka, Ill.).
The Raiders most notably return Two-time Second Team All-Patriot League selection Lauren Hyland (Greenwich, Conn.), who has competed at No. 1 Singles and Doubles for each of her first two seasons at Colgate.
