Perspective

What ARE we waiting for? A perspective on our times.

This idiosyncratic perspective is written in the spirit of John Maynard Keynes’s admonition that, “…words ought to be a little wild for they are the assault of thoughts on the unthinking.”

We have a president in office despite his losing the popular vote by a large margin.

We have a president in office when it has a become quite obvious his election was influenced by long-time enemy, Russia.

We have a president in office whose cabinet and other appointees are clearly opponents of the office they are appointed to run.

We have a president in office who responds to mass killers differently depending on their ethnicity/nationality.

Following the 307th mass shooting of the year, outside San Antonio, having saying after such shootings that “this is not the time to talk about guns,” the president says it’s a mental health issue. Isn’t this talking about guns? He also took steps allowing people with mental health problems to buy guns.

We have a president in office whose mental health has been seriously called into question by scores of mental health professions as well as by members of his own party.

We have watched as an American citizen was killed by a Nazi on the street of an American city, only to be told by the president there are good people on both sides. Aren’t Nazis the ones we fought a great war against, the ones who committed the holocaust, and the ones who rose to power using the same tactics our president uses?

We have a president whose highest priority is himself, one whose continuous lies have been well-documented, leading to his minions of liars.

We have a president who uses the office to increase his wealth.

We have in office a president who seeks to cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and children’s programs.

We have a president in office who insults allies, touts his golf course during an official speech in South Korea, says China is raping the U.S. during then campaign, the once elected plays kissy-kissy with China, only to go to Vietnam and castigate China once again.

In the words of the King of Siam, “Etc., etc., etc.”

So, being a little wild with words, what the [expletive deleted] are we, you and me, doing about it?!
