The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Madison County kicks off its new fundraising season on January 16, 2018, at 6 p.m., at the Kallet Civic Center, 159 Main St., Oneida. Together, we can beat our biggest rival. The community is invited to come out and learn more about the Relay For Life movement and how they can help the American Cancer Society attack cancer from every angle.

“Kick Off is our opportunity to showcase the many programs and services the American Cancer Society provides to the folks in Madison County,” Melanie Francis, Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society. “Our teams are proud of their hard work and are always looking for more neighbors to join them in the fight.”

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event to save lives from cancer. At Relay For Life events, participants celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. Together, we can beat our biggest rival. Join a Relay For Life event and help us attack cancer from every angle. During the kickoff event, community members will have the opportunity to register a team for the Relay For Life event, which will be held June 2, 2018, from 4 p.m. to midnight, at Vets Field in Oneida.

The event will celebrate and honor local cancer survivors, patients and caregivers, and showcase how funds raised benefit the local community. Speakers will include residents from Madison County that have benefited from the American Cancer Society’s programs and resources. It’s free to attend and refreshments are provided.

Funds raised help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer – from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, from providing empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness.
