Local artist Rit Midlam, known professionally as Rijami, will be the featured artist for the months of January and February in the Griffing Gallery of the Kallet Civic Center.
The new installation, entitled, “Head in the Clouds”, features the artist’s imaginative manipulation of his own original photographs. He states that “this photographic study examines the images found in the clouds during gathering storms, or serene summer days, or even when the sun first touches our earth”.
Those familiar with Rijami’s work know that he derives his inspiration from keenly observing nature with an eye to see beyond the obvious. An earlier exhibit focused on imagery seen in driftwood, tree bark, and rock formations.
“Head in the Clouds” will have the viewer connecting with the mystical beauty of the sky and clouds. The exhibit opens Jan. 5, 2018.
A reception will be held for the artist on Sunday, Jan. 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. and is open to the public.
